Obituary of Russell Vail
Russell Cyril Vail passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 in Barrie, ON. Russell was born on March 29, 1964, a dear son of Alice (Price) Vail and the late Laurence Vail.
Russell was a great guy, “a real gem”!! He was handy and able to fix just about anything. He enjoyed keeping himself busy and was always willing to lend a hand to others. He continued to stay active until he could no longer do so. Two of his favourite treats were Apple Crisp and White Cake with white frosting.
Russell had a very close bond with his work buddies at Restorations by Roger. Paul and Russ called each other, » my brother from another mother»… Paul along with Ronan, Ritchie Rich, Ryan, Burnsy, and more would take Russ fishing, how he loved those trips…and we can’t forget Maureen, “Mo”, she loved Russ and watched out for him just like a big sister would do.
Russ loved Nascar, and #24, Jeff Gordon was his guy…Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays…he had jerseys and tee-shirts for all sports teams, although I’m sure a time or two, he wanted to rip that Maple Leaf jersey off, never to wear it again, until the next game.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Russell was the beloved husband of Kathy “Kitten”, and he was her “Poops” for 13 years; the loving father of Marshall Vail (Kyla), Blake Vail (Celeste), Tara Lord (Jim), and Shawn Lord (Kiara); Grampy to Desmond, Tenille, Vivian, Lily, and Julian; Brother of Betty Lou Smith (Bill), Bev Desruisseau (Rick), Lorraine Huggard, Marilyn Hovey (John), Karen Walsh (Fred Sr), Kevin Vail, Kimberly Vail (Shawn McKeown), Rick Vail (Marcia Bunnell) and Tony Vail. Russell will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his father, Russell was predeceased by his brother Ronnie Vail, brother-in-law Billy Huggard and dear friend Doug Smith.
A Celebration of Life for Russell will be held on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 at the Belleisle Creek Hall (1338 Route 870, Belleisle Creek, NB), across for the Belleisle Post Office. The family invite friends and neighbours to join them 4:30 to 7:00pm, to celebrate and share memories of our dear Russell.
