Russell’s Obituary
Russell passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 30th at the age of 57 at the High Prairie Health Complex in High Prairie, AB.
Russell was born in Steinbach, MB. He grew up on the family farm outside the city and spent many hours working on and racing cars. He took apart and rebuilt his first motor at the age of ten.
Russell was very outgoing and made friends wherever he went. A ‘quick’ trip to town could always be counted on to take a couple extra hours due to him stopping to chat.
He met Gisèle in Steinbach and they were married in 1988. Russell worked as a truck driver until a job at Tolko Industries brought him and his family to High Prairie, AB in 2000.
He loved nature and being outdoors. Bird watching was a favorite pastime. He enjoyed hunting and brought each of his children out along with him.
Russell will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gisèle Friesen, their 5 children, and 4 grandchildren: Brittany, Ashley (David) and their 3 children Jeremiah, Micaiah, and Eleanna, Chérie, Courtney and her daughter Rylee, and Éric.
He is survived by his parents, Jake and Betty Friesen, and his siblings: Darrell (Joanne), Marci, Melanie (Gord), and Chris (Jacklyn). He will be dearly missed by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends
