Ruby Shaw (nee Evans) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the age of 78 with family by her side. She was the loving mother of Ron (Julie) and is predeceased by her son Darren (Joyce). Ruby was one of five children and is predeceased by her brothers, Sandy (Esther), Levi (Doris), and Peter (Irene), as well as her dear sister, Nina Campbell (Paul). She was the proud grandmother of Dana (Jordan), Henry, Jack, and Olivia. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ruby was born in Newfoundland, was raised on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and eventually moved to Ontario. She was an avid sailor and long-time member of the Port Hope Yacht Club. Every morning she woke up to the view of Lake Ontario. She enjoyed traveling and took many vacations with close friends and family. Ruby was the most kind and caring human you’d come across. Her humour and unfailing kindness will be sorely missed.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, August 13 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre (30 King St. E., Cobourg, ON K9A 1K7). Sharing of memories to take place at 2 p.m.
