Obituary
Roy Leslie Green, age 72, passed peacefully away at home surrounded by his loving family in Cavendish on July 27, 2024.
Predeceased by father and mother Harrison and Doris Green and sister-in-law Alice.
Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories are his loving wife of 53 years Millicent, children Zoe (Kirk), Janice (Chris) and Ian (Kristi), grandchildren Nicholas, Kyle (Ashley), Blake (Sarah), Jamie (Cameron), Jenna (Tyson), Jesse and Aaron, his sister Lillian (Ken), brothers-in-law Calvin (Verley), Harold, Fred (Doris), David (Lorna), Annie, Frank (Valerie), Kurt (Lori) and many cousins, nieces, nephews and faithful friends.
Roy was born, raised and grew his family in Cavendish. He was an active youth enjoying pond hockey, walking to Whiteway and being in the woods. Roy found his true love Millicent and began their family young which gave his three children and eventual grandchildren the best years filled with adventures, laughter and so much love.
Roy began his work life as a printer, eventually running the family business until he and Millicent took a leap of faith and began their internationally recognized candle making business in the kitchen of his family home in 1991. They traveled widely and met many characters along the way until he retired and pursued other interests with family and friends closer to home. Roy’s creativity was expressed as a painter, award winning candle maker, woodworker and sometimes his creativity came through in a game of cards.
Roy fought his battle with Parkinson’s with pure strength of will, all his stubbornness and his supportive family surrounding him. Throughout his journey he never failed to crack jokes with friends and spend heartfelt time with the grandchildren of whom he was so proud.
Many thanks to Dr. Humber, Liza and Sandra, Kevin Branton, our Public Health nurses, Warren’s Funeral Home and our home caregiver Janice Grimes for being there in our time of need.
A visitation will be held from Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
A funeral service to celebrate Roy’s life will be held from Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Inurnment to follow at the United Church Columbarium, Heart’s Delight.
