Roy Leonard Mosher – 89, Lower Coverdale, New
Brunswick, joined his wife in heaven on Sunday, June 11, 2023. He
passed away peacefully at Moncton Hospital, Moncton, New Brunswick,
after a short illness. Born in East Chezzetcook, Halifax County, Nova
Scotia, he was the son of the late Hugh and Dorothy (Kendall)
Mosher.
Roy married the love of his life, Lola Mae (Brown) in 1954.
They spent 65 wonderful, loving years together. Roy believed in work
hard, play hard. He was manager/partner at Vipond Automatic Sprinkler
Company. Roy started with Vipond digging ditches «by hand»
in Toronto to install the incoming underground water supply lines.
Through hard work, determination and a desire to succeed, he moved his
way up to become a co-owner. Roy was asked by Gordon Vipond to move to
Moncton area and manage the Eastern Canada Region. He retired on
December 31, 1999 with 47 years of service.
Roy prioritized spending time with his family showing horses,
skiing (snow and water), snowmobiling, biking, hunting and fishing. He
loved travelling together in his motorhome with his in-laws, kids and
whoever wished to join them to explore, to far off places like Disney
World and the Calgary Stampede. Roy was always the FUN father while
constantly saying «Don’t tell your mother». He
always encouraged his children to reach for the stars; if you
don’t fall, you’re not trying hard enough. He
loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with his
whole being. He was a legend and a hero to all that met
him.
Roy was involved with Moncton Horse Club, Albert County Trail
Blazers, Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association and was inducted
into both the NB Hall of Fame and Moncton Wall of Fame with the Vipond
sprinkler Fastball team. His favourite hobby (besides horses) was
making maple syrup, cream and butter (Lola loved it) at his sugar
camps, at his farm in Goshen, in Elgin on the Pollett River and at his
cottage on Folly Lake, NS. Roy loved when family and friends would
come and enjoy the time spent together at the sugar camp, tapping
trees and boiling off syrup. The cottage on Folly Lake was a very
special place where family and friends frequently enjoyed the lake
time, winter sports and games of all types (memories that will truly
last a lifetime). On the occasion, Roy would get a call in Coverdale
from a «Folly Laker» telling him that the kids were having a
loud party, just imagine, a «Party at the cottage»: Go
figure. He certainly lived a full life and will be missed by
all.
Along with his parents, Roy was predeceased by his loving
wife, Lola (2019); brothers, Charlie, James, Allen, Ernie; sisters,
Ivy, Joan, May, Melissa. Roy will be so missed by his children,
Laurie, Chris (Kim), Karen; grandchildren Mike, Trevor, Rachel,
William, Anthony, James, Josie, Brooke, Whitney; several great
grandchildren; sister, Ruth.
All are welcome to attend a graveside service that will be
held 10 a.m., Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Kemptown Anglican Cemetery.
Directly following, there will be get together at Kemptown Hall until
2 pm. There will be a celebration of life at his daughter,
Karen’s, 3 Burberry Court, Riverview, from 3-7 p.m.,
Saturday, June 17, 2023. If so desired, donations to a local Kemptown
charity or Canadian Cancer Society are welcomed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Public messages of condolence
may be sent to the family by viewing Roy’s obnituary on-line
