Gascho, Roy Alvin:
Surrounded by the love of his family, Roy passed away peacefully at the Freeport Campus of the Grand River Hospital, on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the age of 90.
Beloved husband of 69 years to Mary K. Gascho (nee Koch).
Loving dad of Judith Ann Gascho-Jutzi (Calvin), Sandra Lee Frank (Bruce Bricknell) , Evelyn Joy Gascho, Robert James Gascho.
He will be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren Catherine Hummel (Kevin Kelly), Joe Frank (Katie Hohenadel), Josh Frank (Sarah Robb), Ashley Frank ( Joe Larson), Kaytie Frank (Abhi Chattopadhyay), six great grandchildren Leia, Mackenzie, Rooke, Joey, Georgia, and Bishop.
Dear brother of Ruth (Edward) Hyjek and brother-in-law of Alice Gascho. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Aaron and Emma (Leis) Gascho, and his siblings, Anna Mae, Mary, Harold, Lloyd (Marilyn) and Norman.
Roy was a dedicated driver for Kingsway Transport. He was presented a safe driving award for 2,000,000 miles without an accident. Over the years, he was on the board of directors at the House of Friendship and was a union steward with the Teamsters at Kingsway Transport. Roy along with his family and friends spent time together at «the land» in New Hamburg where they enjoyed camping, gardening, cutting wood and snow mobiling.
Roy’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 3-5 and 6-8pm and at First Mennonite Church, 800 King St. E. Kitchener, on Friday January 27, 2023 from 12-12:45pm. The service will follow at 1pm. Interment First Mennonite Cemetery. A reception will be held in the church hall.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the House of Friendship or First Mennonite Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
