Obituary of Ross Wade Burgoyne
BURGOYNE, Ross Wade – Age 72, Cherryfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the South Shore Regional Hospital, in Bridgewater. Born in Cherryfield, he was a son of the late Donald Eugene and Lona Isabelle (Whynot) Burgoyne.
From a very young age, Ross was a hardworking jack of all trades, who landed at Kirk Forest Products where he spent his time working as a mechanic and foreman at the tree yard. He loved attending pony pulls, being outside, and hunting and fishing at the camp; but his greatest love was spending time with his family.
Ross is survived by his dedicated wife of 51 years, Anne Jeanette (Whynot) Burgoyne. He was a loving and devoted father to daughters, Sandi Lynn (Shannon) Reeves, New Ross; Angela Marie (Jason) Veinot, Hammonds Plains; and son Gerald Wade (Mandi) Burgoyne, Branch LaHave; proud Grampy to grandchildren, Lucas, Zachary, Madison, Carlie-Lynn, Mayah and Brayden; and G-Grampy to great-grandson, Lemmy James. He will be missed by sisters, Linda (Arden) Sproule, Lake Pleasant; Christine (David) Whynot, Meisners Section; Susan Daniels (Colleen Wamboldt), Waterloo; Kimberly Burgoyne, New Germany; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Roland, Leonard and Brian.
By personal request, there will be no service held. A celebration of Ross’s life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to share memories and honor his legacy. No flowers please. Donations in Ross’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Lung Association or a charity of choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the ICU team at South Shore Regional Hospital for all of the care and compassion they showed during this very difficult time.
Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 Highway 10, New Germany, where on-line condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
To My Family and Friends
To my dearest family
And friends
Some things I’d like to say,
But first of all to let you know,
That I arrived okay.
The day I had to leave you,
When my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me,
And said I welcome you.
Then God gave me a list of things,
He wished for me to do,
And foremost on that list of mine,
Is to watch and care for you.
But do not be afraid to cry,
It does relieve the pain,
Remember there would be no flowers,
Unless there was some rain.
When you are walking down the street,
And you’ve got me on your mind,
I’m walking in your footsteps,
Only half a step behind.
And when you feel the gentle breeze,
Or the wind upon your face,
That’s me giving you a great big hug,
Or just a soft embrace.
And when it’s time for you to go,
From that body to be free,
Remember you’re not going,
You are coming here to me.
