Rosemary (nee Maher) Kelso Obituary
Passed peacefully in her 88th year at Meaford Long-Term Care March 3, 2024.
Loving mother of Brigid Kelso (Bradley McLean) and Michael Kelso (Jayme Moss). Adoring grandmother to Oscar and Sofia Kelso.
Rosie was born in Owen Sound and trained as an R.N. at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener. She married William Kelso and lived in Guelph, where she worked in emergency room, industrial, and clinical nursing before retiring to Colpoy’s Bay. Rosie loved spending summers with her friends at Niinishinaming (Cape Croker) as a child and then camping there with her own family. She loved singing with her Sauble Beach choir and dancing with her dear friend, Jack, at the Legion. She enjoyed life in Colpoy’s Bay with her cats, going for walks in the snow, and swimming in the cold waters of Georgian Bay. Her expert bridge-playing skills earned her many mentions in local papers, and she even beat Mike at cribbage just weeks before her passing. As a fashionista, Rosie enjoyed clothes shopping and she couldn’t resist a bargain.
She is predeceased by her brother, Nelson Maher, and her twin sister, Sharon McLaren.
A celebration of life will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492 on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 2:00p.m., followed by a reception at the funeral home.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider Grey Bruce Animal Shelter. Online condolences can be sent to Rosie’s family by visiting her memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca
