McCABE, Rose Marie (nee Kelly)
Was born on February 18, 1946 on Bell Island, Newfoundland and passed away after a brief and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Windsor Hospice. Beloved wife, best friend, travel partner and golf buddy of Vic Soares. Loving mother of Sean (Beth Fuerth), Maureen (Joe McLinden) and Sheena (Wes Deslippe). Devoted Nanny of Emily, Grace, Cavan, Cael, Meaden, Kate, Sarah, Kelton and Ryan. Predeceased by her husband Peter McCabe and parents, Aileen and Owen Kelly. Dearest sister of Iris Donohoe (Mike), Ellen Kennedy (late Bill), late Ed Kelly (Sandy), late Mike Kelly (Marie), Patricia Dwyer (late Bill), Jim Kelly (Brenda), John Kelly, Owen Kelly (Vivian), Kyran «Joe» Kelly and Peggy Kelly. Daughter-in-law of Herminia and the late Leonel Soares. Dear sister-in-law of Mary-Jo McNulty (late Tom), late Paul McCabe, Margaret French (Glen), Elizabeth Cormier (John) and Tony Soares (Lisa). Step mother to Natalie Kelly (Jason) and Christopher Soares (Larissa) and their families. Rose, the Beautiful One, will also be remembered and missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rose was employed with the WECDSB as a religion and family life coordinator for many years as well as a principal. Rose’s contributions to her community were many, including her service to the AIDS Committee of Windsor, United Way, Juvenile Diabetes and countless others. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the tireless Met Hospital staff as well as the Hospice of Windsor for their loving and exceptional care. In following Rose’s wishes, cremation has taken place. All are welcome for visitation on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at St. Mary’s Church, 12048 County Road 34, Maidstone from 9:30 am until Mass of the Resurrection at 11 am.
