Obituary
Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Rosalind Yvonne Legge of Cavendish, aged 71 years.
Ros, as she was affectionately called, was predeceased by her parents, Gordon Legge and Edith (Jackson) Legge; her sisters Hazel Legge and Ruby Strickland; and brother-in-law, Vincent Rodgers.
Leaving to mourn with beautiful memories, her elder siblings Hayward (Ruby) and Emily Rodgers; and brothers-in-law, Dave Legge and Ronald (Butch) Strickland; as well as many nieces and nephews and their spouses, partners and children.
Ros was not only the apple of her mother’s eye, but she also played a significant part in the lives of all her family and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. It was the small things in life that brought her much pleasure, which was a wonderful reminder and life lesson for all those close to her. Many will fondly remember her love of knitting and the joy she experienced from her endless gifts of balls of yarn.
Special thanks are extended to two special people who cared for Rosalind in her later years, Millicent Green and Lori George, as well as Dr. F Leung for many years of dedicated health care, and the compassionate staff at the palliative care unit in Carbonear Hospital who eased the family’s difficulty of watching this angel fade back into her mother’s loving arms.
Visitation will be held from St. Andrew’s United Church, Whiteway, on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00- 9:00 pm.
A funeral service to celebrate Rosalind’s life will be held at St Andrews United Church, Whiteway, on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2:00. Interment to follow at Cavendish United Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Cavendish Community Centre immediately after the interment, all are welcome.
Donations in Rosalind’s name may be made to the Newfoundland and Labrador Down Syndrome Society or a charity of one’s choice.
