Obituary of Ron Dines
Peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 2, 2023 Ronald Eugene Dines of Ste Anne de Prescott passed away at the age of 81 after a lengthy battle with ALS.
Ron was born in Montreal on August 22, 1941. Predeceased by his parents Milton and Mildred (Dow) Dines. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dody (Pride), his daughter Dara (Alan Horn), his daughter Alyssa (John McCaig), his sister Gail (Mike Roach) and his grandson Evan Dines Carty.
After graduating in 1965 from UNB in Chemical Engineering, he spent his entire career in the Pulp and Paper Industry. 11 years were in production, followed by 15 years in Research, a Head Office position and finally as a consultant.
Outside the workplace, golf was a huge part of Ron’s life over a span of 70 years until ALS sidelined his playing career.
Word puzzles were another of his passions, along with Duplicate Bridge. He was also an avid reader and built bookshelves all over the house until Dody said “enough.” He was well known for his yearly top ten list.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be forthcoming in the Spring.
