Obituary of Ronald William Orr
It is with sadness, that the family of Ronald William Orr, announce his peaceful passing on June 23, 2024, at the age of 77. Cherished husband of Bernice. Proud father of Brian (Stephanie) and Julie (Shaun). Loving grandfather to Harley, Atlas, Atticus and Sarah. Predeceased by infant twin grandchildren, Joshua and Meredith.
Ron spent 38 years working at Dofasco. His colleagues respected him for his skill and dedication, and he formed many lasting friendships during his time there.
His children, Brian and Julie, were the light of his life. He took immense pride in their achievements and cherished every moment spent together. His grandchildren, brought him endless joy, and he loved sharing his time and stories with them.
Ron’s happiest moments were spent at the family cottage, surrounded by relatives and friends. He found solace and joy in the quiet mornings by the lake, and evenings filled with laughter around the bonfire. His love for boating and fishing were lifelong passions that he eagerly shared with his children and grandchildren, teaching them the art of patience and the thrill of a good catch. Many fond memories for Dad and the family were created at the cottage and will continue to do so in his honour.
Ron also cherished his time spent on vacation in Florida, where he enjoyed the warm weather, fishing and boating trips. He made many fond memories there with his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, with whom he shared countless adventures and laughs. They were all a very close extended family to him, which he valued greatly, being an only child.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Medical Step Down Unit (MSDU) at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, where he received excellent care in the last week of his life.
Rest in peace, dear Dad. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
