Ronald Michael Carr
May 5, 1947 – December 21, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald “Mike” Carr, on December 21, 2024. Born in Vancouver, BC to Grace (nee Hutchins) and Stanley Carr on May 5, 1947. Mike was a proud member of Pipe Fitter Union Local 56 for 50 plus years. Mike was a loving husband to Judy who predeceased him in 2018 and a devote father to their only son Todd, who predeceased them both in 2017. A much-loved
Uncle, Brother-in-law and Brother, Mike was a fixture at family gatherings and the family trivia expert of many genres. He was always present at important family milestones and acknowledged every achievement of family members. Mike was quick to share knowledge with the younger members of his family and delighted in their accomplishments.
Mike possessed a wealth of knowledge of sports. Including NASCAR, MLB, NHL, NFLand others. Mike was an organizer and coach for minor and intermediate baseball. His teams won City and Provincial Championships and was a former executive member of Baseball Nova Scotia. His favourite team of all time was the New York Yankees. Mike also played many sports. He was an avid hockey goalie, baseball player, all forms of billiards and candlepin bowling.
Mike was knowledgeable in old rock and roll and country music. He not only knew who wrote a song, but who was the first to record it and where. He often knew the littleknown story behind the song too. It was impossible to stump him at country music trivia. He was a long-time fan of Willy Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Mike enjoyed driving and sightseeing with Judy and Todd and could find the most unique souvenirs. He could find just the right thing for just the right occasion. He enjoyed learning new things and seeing new places in the province.
Mike had a knack for befriending people in the community. He was a steadfast member of South Woodside and known by old and young alike. He was generous with his time and supported local teams and organizations. His daily routine included a stop at A&W for coffee, which was always ready for him when he arrived, having been prepared by the staff whom he considered friends. Staff at A&W were very special to Mike and were
an important part of each day for him.
Mike is survived by his sister Wendy, and brothers Raymond and William. He will be greatly missed by Brothers-in-law Pat, Bobby, and Erv. Sister-in-laws Ruth, Murph, Shelly, Jean, Hennie, Linda, Dena and Kimberley. “Uncle Mike” will be most especially missed by nieces Chirs, Heather, Karena, Angie, Michele, Liz, Ellen, Erin, Colleen, Lindsey, Carly and Holly.
