Dr. Ronald Frederick Freeman
Ron was born on September 2, 1936 in Hamilton, Scotland to Fred and Jean Freeman. He passed away at
Groves Park Lodge in Renfrew on November 17, 2023. His brother Gordon and his wife Diane from Amherstburg,
Ontario survive him. Ron has missed his long time friend and companion Jane Wallace. Her family became his
extended family.
Ron was raised in Galt, Ontario (Cambridge). After graduating from high school and VS he worked for five years as a design Draftsman at GE in Guelph then entered the University of Waterloo where he graduated with a degree in
Political Science. He then traveled to Es, England and attained a PHD at the University of Es. Returning to Canada he then became the Information & Training Officer for the Canada Employment and Immigration Union and traveled the country fulfilling his duties before retiring.
Ron was very interested in sports cars and motorcycles. He was a member of the Grand Valley Car Club and drove in many club rallies with his brother. He was always interested in politics and had his own political radio talk show in Galt. At this time he was the campaign manager for Max Saltsman, MP and they won several elections in Waterloo
South riding. Ron was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Renfrew. He loved animals, music and books. Lots of books! After having lived in Ottawa, Hantsport, Nova Scotia and White Lake, Ontario, he finally found his true home in Renfrew.
