Obituary for Ron Weir:
It is with the deepest sadness that the family of Ronald Douglas Weir announces his sudden and unexpected passing on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket. He was born on January 31, 1947 and is survived by his wife, Marcia of 41 years and their two daughters, Shauna (Brandon) and first grandchild Haddie, and Brittany (David). They have resided in Barrie for over ten years.
His parents, Jean and William Weir of Richmond Hill were of Scottish descent and came to Canada in the 1920’s. They made their home in Maple and later in Richmond Hill, having ten children, Ron being the eighth. He is survived by his sisters Wilma (Stan), Glenda, Gloria and Carol (Kel) and brothers, Bill and David (Julia). He is predeceased by his brothers Paul and John and his sister Ruth.
He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews across Canada, his cousins in Ontario and Scotland and many friends. Ron worked in the golf course construction industry for 11 years followed by 33 years in building operations management at Bayview Glen Church in Thornhill until his retirement in 2014. Bayview Glen was where Ron and Marcia met and were actively involved in the life and ministry of the church. Their daughters were born there and were actively involved as well. In 2018 he began working seasonally at the beautiful Friday Harbour Resort in Innisfil until the time of his death. Ron was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Although we deeply grieve his absence among us, we have the assurance that Ron is with His Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, because he put his faith and trust in Him and we look forward to the day when we will be reunited.
Visitation will be at 10:30 am at Bayview Glen Church, 300 Steeles Ave. East (at Bayview and Steeles Ave. East) Thornhill, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Ron’s life verse was: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” (Prov. 3:5-6)
