Obituary
Passed peacefully away at home in the early hours of Christmas morning after a short but courageous battle with cancer. It is with heavy hearts that we lost our beloved husband, father, father-in-law, pop, and great pop, Ronald Chislett, at the age of 94 years.
Predeceased by parents Walter and Clara Chislett; parents-in-law Jasper and Eliza Harnum; brothers Percy and baby Robert; sister Jessie; brother-in-law Mac; nephew Nelson; grandson Bradley; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Frances and Bill Seward, Bob and Frances Harnum, Nellie and Herb March, Margaret and Hubert Peddle, Addie Hillier, Winston and Ada Harnum, Ethel and Steve Langer, and baby Nelson Harnum.
Leaving to mourn with precious memories are his loving and devoted wife of 67 years Alma; son Roger (Linda); daughter Beverly (Sheldon); son Paul (Phyllis); grandchildren Jackie (Richard), Steve, Ron (Jen), Angie (Jim), Dan (Blair), Jason, Justin (Cathy), Jeremy, Sabrina (Brendon); great-grandchildren Brooklyn (Terrence), Keynan, Alex, Julianne, Jonah, Tommy, Avi, Marshall, Henry, Alice, Edison; great-great-granddaughter Emma; sister-in-law Rowena and brother-in-law Gerald Smith; nieces and nephews who were more like brothers and sisters Mildred (Andrew) Sooley, Percy (Judy) Chislett, Kathleen Elliot, Ross (Verna) Chislett, Garry (Fran) Chislett, and Marshall (Cynthia) Chislett; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Ron was an exceptional man who embraced life with intelligence, wit, and humour. His life skills were many and varied. His ability to turn an ordinary piece of wood into masterpiece of artwork or functional furniture was second to none. His love for and expertise as a fisherman, teacher, and mentor to old and young alike will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Resting at the Church of the Epiphany, Heart’s Delight, on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 7:00-9:00 pm and Friday December 29 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm.
Funeral service will b held from Church of the Epiphany, Heart’s Delight, on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at St. Matthew’s Anglican Cemetery, Green’s Harbour.
Family has requested that masks be worn for both the visitation and funeral service.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to St. Matthew’s Anglican Cemetery, Green’s Harbour.
