Ron was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years Lynette McEachern; father and mother Dolphy and Isabel McEachern; father-in-law and mother-in-law Leo and Louise St. Onge and sister-in-law Betty St. Onge. In September 1964, Ron received his Certificate of Graduation from the Saskatchewan Embalmers Association, University of Saskatchewan. He began working as a driver at Speers Funeral Chapel in 1954 before becoming an apprentice to the late George Speers. Ron continued working at Speers until 1980 when he purchased the funeral home with two colleagues and served as President until 2004 when they sold the business to the current owner. Ron was recognized for 25 years of service by Saskatchewan Funeral Service Association in September 1983, earned the ‘Lifetime Funeral Service Award’ for his contributions to the industry and received his 50 years membership pin from the Grand Lodge in Saskatchewan. He contributed to the legacy of over 100 years of exceptional service and care to the families of the Regina community. Ron became a member of the WaWa Shrine in 1987 and joined the Director’s Staff. In 1993 he served as Director, and he was asked to assist in fundraising for the Patient Travel Fund. Ron designed the current WaWa Shrine Patient Transportation Fund ‘In Memory Cards’ and he raised funds for the Shriners Hospital in Montreal, Quebec for many years. In 2015, Ron marked 13 years as a Director and 23 years as a fund raiser. Ron was always thankful for the support and generosity that allowed the WaWa Shriners to support a large number of children from Saskatchewan to achieve a happier, healthier lifestyle. Through Ron’s many years of work and fundraising, his fondest memories would have been travelling across Canada, the US and into Europe with his loving wife Lynn by his side, with one of their favorite spots being Maui. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ron’s loving memory will be cherished by all who knew him. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan with Rev. Dexter Van Dyke officiating.
