Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Ethel. Dear father of Susan, Tim, Ann and Brenda. Loving grandfather of Riley, Jake, Dylan, Scott, and Grant.
Roger led an active and involved life, starting with years in the Boy Scouts and as a cadet with the Royal Military College. His appreciation for service to the community and the role of the military stayed with him throughout his life.
He had a rewarding and successful career in the emerging technology sector, starting with early jobs with Hewlett Packard and Computing Devices. He owned his own technology company for several years, and later transitioned to successful positions in the Canadian Government. He worked as a Director of Trade to South America for several years, and ended his career directing the technology implementation at the Museum of Civilization in Hull.
Roger loved to visit new places and covered much of the globe in his travels with work and with his wife, Ethel. He continued these adventures in retirement, and remained active on condo boards, volunteer activities, golfing, swimming, skiing, playing bridge and eventually participating to the fullest in the retirement home where he and Ethel resided for his last years.
Friends are invited to visit the family at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 10 a.m until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Salvation Army.
