Robin Mary Munro, born Robin Mary Smith on June 25th, 1952 in Flin Flon, Manitoba, was the cherished daughter of Garvin Gerald Smith and Katherine Edith Dunbar. As the oldest of six siblings – Eric, Kathy, Howard, Devon, and Heidi – Robin’s early years were spent in Flin Flon, where her father held positions as the local dog catcher and a miner at HBM&S Flin Flon mine.
As a young adult, Robin enlisted in the army and trained to become a sniper. On May 14th, 1978, she married Allan Roy Munro, and together they built an off-grid cabin and farm at Wecash Lake. This remote location was only accessible by boat until the Canadian Armed Forces constructed a road to the property. Robin and Allan brought three children into the world – Aaron, Jesse, and Rebecca – and Robin often spoke of the child she lost to a miscarriage.
Robin’s exceptional hunting abilities earned her the nickname Annie-Oakley, as she skillfully protected her property from predatory threats. Her passions included gardening, raising goats, and tending to chickens. After relocating their family to an acreage near Creighton, Robin and Allan operated a market garden and greenhouse together. Robin later took on various positions outside the farm, eventually becoming the office manager at the Tax Office in Flin Flon for twenty years.
Following Allan’s passing on November 14th, 2016, Robin moved south to live with her daughter Rebecca, allowing her to be more involved in her grandchildren’s lives. Robin passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital on April 20th, 2023.
Robin was a devoted and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. In the later years of her life, she fellowshipped at Aberdeen Mennonite Church where she formed many cherished friendships.
Robin is survived by her siblings Kathy, Howard, Devon, and Heidi, her three children Aaron, Rebecca, and Jesse and their spouses Karla, Garnet, and Casey, as well as ten grandchildren: Lydia, Simeon, Dannan, Quade, Macy, AdaLynn, Mack, Dylan, Linkyn, and Grayson.
