It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Roberta Holloway of Grand Bank, NL, announce her passing. Roberta passed away at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s, NL on April 17, 2024, at the age of 76. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of beautiful memories are her son, David (Monique); daughters: Kelly (Terry) and Jeanie (Colin); grandchildren: Tanisha (Graham), Zachery (Stephanie), Kimberley, Kiana, Tori, and Tamara; great-grandchildren: Jayden, Jorja, and Julia; along with a large circle of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Robert and Stella (Wells) Matthews, Roberta was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, David Holloway, as well as many siblings and extended family members.
Roberta was born in Grand Bank on February 10, 1948 to Robert and Stella Matthews. She resided in Grand Bank her entire life. She married the love of her life David Holloway, of Lethbridge. They had three beautiful children, six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren who were cherished always. She loved them all so much and made sure their special treats were always available when they visited. Roberta was a very creative and talented lady and could put her hand to anything. She loved to cook, sew, knit, crochet and play musical instruments. Spending time with her family, shopping and being independent gave her great satisfaction. She was also very witty and loved to make people laugh. Roberta also loved to be active in her community. She thoroughly enjoyed her sewing group, church and 50+ group. Roberta experienced many medical issues, some chronic, throughout her lifetime. She always managed the issues and bounced back against the odds and defied many predictions. She certainly instilled the importance of a “never give up” attitude upon those around her. She was not known by the world but she meant the world to her family. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.
Roberta’s family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Home – Grand Bank (48 Marine Drive) on:
Friday, April 19th, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM, and
Saturday, April 20th, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM
A funeral service will take place at Wiseman’s Funeral Homes – Grand Bank on:
Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM
Interment will follow at St. Alban’s Anglican Cemetery at a later date. In Roberta’s memory donations may be made to the Sunshine Foundation, and flowers are gratefully accepted.
