Roberta Dupuis Obituary
Roberta Catherine Dupuis
June 26, 1934 – November 23, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Roberta Catherine Dupuis (nee Page), age 89, peacefully embraced with loving light and loving family at Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital, Perth, Ontario. Predeceased by husband Kenneth Jerome Dupuis. Loving mother to three daughters Janis Dupuis, Dayle Baich (Vance Game) and Shellee (Colin) Reid. Proud Grandmother of eight grandchildren: Amy (Shawn) Osman, Sonny (Melanie) Reid, Jesse Jones, Chelsea Coughlin, Asia Reid, Maggie Dupuis, Ryanna Baich, Ashton Baich. “GG” to three great grandchildren: Kalina Zoobkoff-Osman, Banks Osman and Lennon Osman. Predeceased by her beloved parents, James and Jessie Page. Loved dearly by her siblings: Ann (Dave) Stanton [predeceased], Marylyn (Cecil) Thomson [predeceased], Paul (Joan) Page, Karen (David, [predeceased]) McGregor.
Born in Orillia, Ontario, Roberta grew up enjoying the splendor of the land around her with her siblings and cousins. As a child she enjoyed time canoeing and cross – country skiing at the cabin her father built on Whitefish Lake, Algonquin Park and summers at the family farms in Simcoe County. The area of Swift Rapids in the Muskoka’s has always been a very important part of her deeply valued family heritage. As a young adult in her last year of high school, she moved to Renfrew with her family and met her future husband, Ken Dupuis. They married a few years later, settling in Bells Corners, Ottawa to raise their young family of three daughters. Eventually, they bought their beloved cottage at Mississippi Lake, where they entertained friends and family for many years. Roberta felt blessed to have spent twenty-some years entertaining family and friends in Florida. She loved spending time with her siblings and parents down south and watching sunsets at the beach, enjoying dinners and movies, and thrifting at Florida`s glorious garage sales with Dayle and Karen and many others.
Roberta has always had an impact on the people she met, her personality was warm, soft, loving, funny and spiritual. Rarely seen without her video camera, her humour always carried her through tough times, she could make light of almost anything, no matter who she was talking to. Even by a chance meeting she had a caring demeanor, people automatically knew she was sincere and kind with a quite a bit of spunk! To hear Roberta complain or criticize was just something that pretty much never happened, unless it was a joke as she tried to cheer you up. Roberta had a flair for fashion, even owned a hat store on the main street of Renfrew when she was 23 and would go to Toronto by train to buy hats! It was important to her to always look put together, everything had to match, accessories had to be there, nails needed to be taken care of, and she was adorable. The impact and influence Roberta’s motherly love had not only for her children and grandchildren but for her friends and neighbour’s was truly comforting. Roberta had the magic ability to connect with people throughout her life, even momentary acquaintance`s or new friends. That was her life`s work. In the last couple of year`s she met so many beautiful people while navigating multiple health issues: doctors, nurses, drivers, fellow patients, blood technicians and receptionists. Thank you all. At home in Ashton she was supported in an environment of love, light and care, and we are so grateful for every Personal Support Worker who took the time to get to know her. Thank you!
Our hearts are relieved that Roberta chose to dance and sing with her heavenly family. We will miss her every day for the rest of our lives but we know she will walk with us every step of the way.
