We regrettably announce the passing of Nellie at the Sault Area Hospital on May 3, 2024.
Predeceased by his parents Dora and Norman Pyette. Brother of the late Dolorus Burk (Gary) of Sylvania Ohio, Norris (Sharron), Luanne Gamoyda (late Bert) of Orangeville Ontario, Lester of London Ontario, Ronnie (Candace) and Alan (Cindy).
He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Nelson was born on Manitoulin Island on March 10, 1938, later moving to the Sault spending his early years sailing on the Great Lakes Freighters. He later moved to Toronto where he ran a delivery service. He retired and moved back to the Sault where he enjoyed his retirement years playing Old Timers hockey and golfing, cheering on the Maple Leaf’s and Blue Jays. I guess we could say these teams lost their number 1 fan.
The family would like to thank the staff at Extendicare Maple View and the Sault Area Hospital Third Floor for their care during this difficult time.
At Nelson’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society (payable online ssmhumanesociety.ca/ or by cheque).
