Born February 6, 1938 in Parry Sound, Ontario, Robert Leslie Allen, died peacefully on April 20, 2023 surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Della (n. Davy) married for 64 years. Proud father of Kimberley Rogers (Colyn) and Douglas (Monique) and proud grandpa of Courtney Glendenning (Ryan), Amanda Glendenning (Chad), Kara Lopez (Brian), Tyler, Spencer and Brandon and great grandpa to Callie, Eloise, Copeland, Lincoln and Sheppard. Son of Ernie and Evelyn Allen (Cole) both predeceased, brother of Kathy McIntyre (Edward) both predeceased and Don (Sharon).
Bob was a proud OPP Officer working out of the Shelburne, Ontario detachment serving in various roles from traffic constable, court officer and as one of the early community policing officers, serving the community of Grand Valley. Bob retired May 1994.
Bob moved to Orillia at the age of nine. As a young man Bob worked for Wagg’s Laundry and would help at his parents’ family business, Allen’s Marina and Grocery at Severn Bridge. Bob lived in Orangeville during his career and moved back home to Orillia after his retirement, where he spent many a day riding his beloved lawn tractor.
Bob and Della loved travelling by motor home across many parts of Ontario. They spent many winters in St. Augustine where he loved the water and walks on the beach.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors from Southlake Hospital who took wonderful care of Bob in the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to either The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation.
A private celebration of life will be held during the summer.
