Robert Kenneth Lainchbury Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert Kenneth Lainchbury announce his passing on June 6,
2024 at the High River Hospital after a courageous battler with cancer.
Bob leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 36 years, Sharon (Lemermeyer), his son Connor (Katy Sopotyk),
and daughter Regan, sister Debbie (Rob) Wigmore, brother Raymond (Tracey) Lainchbury, inlaws
Janice (Mark) Berlinguette, Colette McLaughlin, Roxane Lemermeyer, Susan McLellan,
Robert (Shannon) Lemermeyer, Sandra (Ken) Bannard, and numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Doris and Walter Lainchbury, in-laws, Sophie and Hans
Lemermeyer, and infant son Sean Michael.
Born in Drayton Valley, Bob was raised on the family farm and worked hard alongside his
parents and siblings. He attended post-secondary school at NAIT becoming a geological
engineering technician. Bob spent a long career with Occidental/Nexen/CNOOC Petroleum. He
and Sharon were married in 1988 and lived in High River while creating a beautiful home for
their family. Bob was a humorous storyteller who loved entertaining family and friends with
colourful tales of experiences and adventures. He loved nothing more than spending time
camping in the mountains with his family and many, many friends.
A funeral mass for Bob will be held at St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church on Friday, June 14,
2024, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to the High River Community
Cancer Center.
