Robert Graham Ewart Obituary
Robert Graham Ewart, age 83, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24th at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Stratford, he is the son of the late William and Charlotte (Hanna) Ewart. Graham is pre-deceased by his loving wife Sharon (Hyde) on April 18, 2016, his son Michael, April 29, 2022 and his son-in-law Michael Dona, June 18, 2021. He was the loving father of Krista and special Papa to Keegan Dona.
Graham is survived by his siblings Ina Ewart of Valemount, B.C., and Bill (Patsy) Ewart of Tete-Jaune-Cache, B.C. He will be remembered by his nephews Will Ewart and Gordon (Ry-Ann) Ewart as well as his great-niece and nephew Seth and Hailee Ewart, of British Columbia. He will be dearly missed by his close friend and coffee buddy of more than 30 years, Dave Wilby.
Graham began his career when he joined the Canadian Air Force where he obtained his certification to become an electronic technologist. From there, he joined Lockwood Survey when employed by the Egyptian Government doing topographical mapping to help assist geologists looking for minerals underground. Knowing he wanted to settle down and start a family, he accepted an electronic technologist position at the University of Waterloo,
Psychology Department which he held for 38 years until his retirement.
Scouting played a significant role in Grahams life beginning as a cub scout and ending as the District Commissioner. Graham married his scout masters daughter, Sharon and together they enjoyed many years in cubing and scouting at 1st Knox Stratford. Scouting is also where he met his closest friend and fellow scout leader, Dave.
He was most proud of his role as Papa to Keegan Michael, his only grandchild. He enjoyed taking Keegan to Hockey and Rugby and watching him play. The two of them spent many hours in the wood shop creating and building projects together. They had a very special and close bond.
Graham was a very kind and humble man with a very compassionate heart. He will be dearly missed by his daughter Krista.
Friends are invited to a visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 29, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
