FRIEDMAN, Robert – It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Friedman announces his passing on Sunday, August 20, 2023, in his ninety-first year. He was the loving husband of Phyllis Gavsie for sixty-three years. Beloved father and father-in-law of Howard and Andrea (Gerson), Stephen and Edward (Turner) and Andrea and Tony (Russo). Adored Zaidy of Julia and Josh Friedman, Emily Friedman and Tanya and Michael Russo. Robert was the much-loved son of the late Gussie and the late Irving Friedman and son-in-law of the late Emily and the late Dr. William Gavsie. Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Pauline and the late Lou Cohen; and cherished brother-in-law of Ronald and Rhonda Gavsie and Herschel and Susan Gavsie. He was blessed to have the love and respect of an extended family and many life- long friends. Robert was an FCA and a founding partner of the accounting firm of Fuller Landau in Montreal. He served as vice-president and then president of Shaare Zion Congregation and was also president=dent of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism in North America. Special thanks to his caregivers for their dedication and support. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Ruby Friedman for his guidance and empathy. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Wednesday, August 23 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Shaare Zion Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield.
