Obituary
Passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the age of 88 years, Robert Elwood (Woody) Myers, of Brandon, MB, formerly of Belmont, MB.
Elwood was born May 28th, 1935 on the family farm in Belmont to Bob & Margaret (MacKay) Myers. He took his schooling in Belmont and on July 9th, 1960, married Donna Ileen Holmes, daughter of May and Oliver Holmes of Belmont.
Elwood and Donna raised their four boys, Shannon Lee, Elwood Scott, Warren Clark and Allen Lee on the family farm on the west side of Belmont. They always felt they had the best of both worlds, living on a farm but only a short walk to town. In 2011, they sold the farm and made their 1st ever move into Brandon.
Elwood is survived by wife Donna, sons Shannon of Brandon, MB, Clark (Wendy) of Winnipeg, MB, Lee (Josee) of St. Adolph, MB, daughter in law Marion (†Scott) Myers of Winnipeg; Also grandchildren Jordan, Regan, Josh, Zach and Emily, Molly, Cory, Ayden and Alix.
He is also survived by his sister Marie Young of Edmonton, AB, sisters in-law, Vivian († Clair) of Prince Albert, SK, Clara († Carl) of Glenboro, MB, Joan († Roddy MacKay) of Baldur, MB as well as many nieces and nephews.
Elwood was predeceased by his parents Bob and Margaret Myers, in-laws May and Oliver Holmes, son Scott, brothers Carl, Clair and Brian, brothers in law Keith Young, Roddy MacKay & Jim Holmes, sisters in law Judy Myers (Brian) and Brenda MacFarlane (partner of Jim Holmes) and nephew Ian Mackay.
A Celebration of Elwood’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at Trinity United Church, 1515-6th St., Brandon, MB, with Rev. Doug Neufeld officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church lower level.
Interment will take place later in the afternoon at approx. 3:00 pm in the Hillside Cemetery, Belmont, MB. Everyone is welcome to attend.
