Robert Douglas McDermott
1967-2023
Robert Douglas McDermott, 55, of Riverside-Albert passed away
suddenly on January 8th, 2023 at his home after a
lengthy illness. Robert was born in Peel Memorial
Hospital in Brampton, ON on August 17th, 1967 the son of Henry and
Ruth (Newcomb) McDermott.
Robby was raised in Ontario for most of his life.
He went to school and worked with his good friend, Robert Squires who
was an electrician. Robby could do many kinds of jobs from
electrical, plumbing or anything that needed fixing. He
loved fishing and hunting and all kinds of sports.
He was a soccer team rep in Ontario and played
goalie in his hockey league. He was known as
«Scully» in Ontario. Later in life he moved to
Riverside- Albert, NB and worked as a fisherman in Alma for a
time. When he moved here he became known as «Robby
Danger». He had a special place in his heart for
animals, especially his dogs. He had many over the years but
his last was a beagle named Angel. He was given a
motorcycle which he loved riding and fixed it up so his dog could
travel with him on the bike. He was so grateful to his
friend, Trent Milburn, who looked after Angel when he was in the
hospital. He would be so happy that Angel is with Trent now
and being looked after well.
He made friends everywhere he went and was a likeable guy
who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who asked for his
help. Robby has studied the Bible and knew many scriptures
by heart, at one time he had 20 Bibles in his home. Robby
had a rough life at times being in bad accidents and not being able to
do the things he used to. He would want everyone to think of
the good times shared.
Psalm 9:9, KJV: The LORD also will be a
refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of
trouble.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Tara
McDermott; his parents, Henry and Ruth (Newcomb) McDermott of
Riverside-Albert, NB and by his best friend, Robert Squires of Erin,
ON; half-sister, Kay (Jenkins) Boyd of ON; several aunts, uncles,
cousins and by all his extended family and friends.
A casual social gathering to celebrate his Life will be
held on June 3rd, 2023 from 1-4pm at the Fundy Curling
Club.

would be greatly appreciated.
