Robert ‘Bud’ Busat Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Bud Busat of Lacombe, Alberta announces his passing at the Rimbey Hospital on Monday May 13th, 2024 at the age of 79.
Bud will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Vivian Busat; sons, Jason (Sarah Westergreen) Busat and Dean (Shayna) Busat; grandchildren, Hunter, Kyden, Emma, Jailey, Brooklyn, Katelyn, and Avery; siblings, Sonya Busat, Mimmi (John) Dennis, Carol (Bernie) Bracha, Harold (Irene) Busat; numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter Lana (Karim) Anglin; grandson, Levi Busat; nephew, Barry Busat; parents, Haakon and Petra Elizabeth Busat; brothers, Peter (Joan) Busat, Doug (Carol) Busat, and Maurice (Rena) Busat.
Bud was born in Lacombe, Alberta and grew up on the farm by Gull Lake. He got his welding ticket in Calgary and left home when he was 19 years old to work in the oil patch up in northern B.C. where he met and married Vivian. In 1970 they moved back home to Gull Lake and bought the family farm from his parents. There they raised their two sons, Jason and Dean, and their daughter, Lana. After farming for a few years, he ventured back into the oilfield with his own company, Crossroads Oilfield Services, located in Lacombe. Bud enjoyed flying his Cessna 180, riding his Honda Gold Wing, camping, reading his Louis L’Amour westerns and of course cheering on the Calgary Flames.
Bud requested no formal funeral service but there will be a small graveside service at the Gull Lake Cemetery at 11am on Saturday, May 25, 2024, followed by a potluck at the farm at noon.
