Bob passed away January 21, 2024 after a short stay in the Oilfield’s General Hospital. He was surrounded by the love and reassurance of his three children.
Robert “Bob” Primmer was born May 30, 1954 in Wiarton, Ont. In April of 1974 he married Karen. In July of 1975 they had their first son, Jason. Bob worked hard to care for his young family. In 1980 they ventured to Alberta and “home” became the High River area until his passing. In 1984 they welcomed their daughter Karli and in 1985 their son Jesse.
Bob’s working years were spent doing a variety of jobs. The one he was seemingly most proud of was working for Ontario hydro under the watchful eye of his Dad. Bob would climb power poles in a lightening storm to remove trees from power lines. He was a fearless, hard worker.
Once in Alberta he worked for the department of highways completing road maintenance and operating the snow plow. He would venture out in the wee hours of the morning to get the roads cleared so people could travel safely. When it worked too, he would sneak a kid into the snow plow with him. During the winter he would love the night shift. Driving the quiet dark roads, making sure they were clear brought him peace and purpose.
After the department of highways went private, Bob decided a career change was needed. He then went into the budding computer industry. He knew computers would be a part of everyone’s lives before everyone knew it. He owned his own computer sales and repair business with his sons for years – even giving an “Internet Cafe” a go. He wanted to give people a spot to use the internet and check their email.
Bob was known in his later years for driving a local taxi. He enjoyed his days behind the steering wheel; visiting with the riders and helping anyone to their door that needed it. Anyone that knew him, knew he was excited to collect the money owed to him from the government so that’s when Bob retired.
Bob always gave more than he had to anyone in need. He was a simple man who made it known he didn’t need much.
Bob loved his kids and grandkids. He was proud and showed pictures to anyone and everyone he could.
Bob is survived by his children: Jason (Treena) and their son Jaxson, Karli (Jay) and their daughter Kayle and son Denton, Jesse (Jess) and their son Kacen and daughter Myla. His brother and sister: Ted (Jennie, Matt and Sam),Sally (David) and Paul (Tanya) . As well as his mother, Yvonne. He also had many special friends who made his days brighter.
He was predeceased by his father, Carl.
The family also wants to express extreme gratitude to the Food Rescue in High River. Sara was a bright light during Bob’s final years and words can’t express their thanks.
If anyone desires, the family would appreciate donations to the Food Rescue.
