July 23, 1959 – February 28, 2024
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Robert ‘Bob’ James Marshall, who left us peacefully in his sleep on February 28, 2024.
Bob was a cherished husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He touched the lives of many with a strong work ethic, willingness to always help anyone, and could always be relied on for some dry humour.
Bob was born on July 23rd, 1959, in Fort William to Alice ‘Betty’ and James ‘Jim’ Marshall. And spent his whole life in Thunder Bay, only recently finding the love of travel with his wife, Joanne.
Bob spent his life working in the fire-suppression field, with a high regard for peoples’ safety. He could be found tinkering in the garage and loved working on vehicles. He always had a project on the go and loved to keep up on the latest vehicle repair topics.
He grew to have a love of animals and enjoyed spending time with his daughters’ pets. They affectionately became known as “Grand-paw’s Gang”: Zeus, Milo, Cashew, Mabel and Peanut. He could always be relied on for a belly rub and the good treats.
He looked forward to his weekly dinner with his close friend Fred, and Sunday phone call with his brother John.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joanne Marshall (Collett); his daughters’ Brittney (Hao), and Danielle (Jay); his siblings’ John (Christine), Katherine ‘Bunny’ (Jim), Margaret (Craig), brother-in-law Johnny (Kathy), and various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his parents.
The family would like to express their thanks to the first response team who assisted that day.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated and returned to his family with no celebration of life to be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Thunder Bay and District Humane Society in memory of Bob Marshall.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
