In the midst of our grief, we the family of Robert “Bob” Elliott Lantz, 94, of Maders Cove, announce his passing on September 20, 2024 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA, on September 6, 1930, he was the son of the late Elliott and Sadie (Johnson) Lantz.
“Bob” or “Bobby” as he was called by his friends, worked most of his life at Nova Wood Products Limited in Northwest. During his early years, he also held jobs delivering milk, flowers and eggs. He was a night watchman at which is now called RPS in Mahone Bay. From the 1960s right up to the 2000s he also worked part time at Lunenburg Bowling Alley. Bob loved sports of all kinds. As a young man he was an avid weightlifter and boxer. He coached his boys in boxing at CBL in Mahone Bay. He loved to bowl and continued as an active bowler into his 90s. He also loved to watch his boys play hockey and softball, never missing a game. Then it was his grandkids at soccer and basketball. Bob also had a love to collect, whether it was sport cards, coins, stamps, he enjoyed it all. It was a love he shared and passed on to family. He loved to travel, whether it was cross country car trips, bus trips, cruises, he was game for them all. He was a highly active member of the Northwest Baptist Church since the 1950s where he served as a deacon for many years. It was a church he genuinely loved. He touched so many in his 94 years with his White Gifts at Christmas, you could never list them all here. The world will be a little darker place without him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; sons, Terry (Anna), Mahone Bay, Clyde (June), Maders Cove and Jody, Lunenburg; sister, Jean Spidle, Maders Cove, half-brother, Lewis Lantz, Lunenburg; grandchildren, Joseph, Katie, James, Grace; great-grandchildren, Alex and Charley.
