Even though Bob’s body was getting frail and tired, he fought as long as he could. As he laid his head on his pillow for one last time he went to sleep, at peace with no more worries.
Look out here he comes 😉
On June 7th, 2023 Bob “Mr. Fix-it” received a call that he couldn’t refuse and will not be returning. He would like you to know that his work here on earth is done. This offer comes with a Bonus – A
reunion with family, friends and his “fur buddy’s” that he has not seen in a long time. Yes, he knew he was very strong willed and lived on his terms, as well as loved to tell stories & tails. He was happy to go when he was called into eternal care. He will defiantly be saying, “Hi from all of us here”.
Bob is the son of the late Mike Olynyk & Edith (Ditton) Olynyk. Brother to Judy Samels (Jerry 2020). Father to Joelle Myers (Paul Goldhawk), Cassi-Lynn Olynyk, Michelle Lemire (Bernard) and Brad Olynyk (Megan). Proud Grandfather to Kelsey Myers (Matt), Courtney Myers (Logan), Brittany Goldhawk (Jeremy), Meredith Goldhawk (Colton), Kate-Lynn Olynyk, Brynn, Ellie, Mallie & Bethany Olynyk, Hunter & Bree Lemire. Very Proud Great Grandfather to Lydia, Briar, Colton, Austin & Blaire. Uncle to Chris Samels, Angie Zwaga (Bob) and Great Uncle to Randy Zwaga (Tanisha).
Many of his proudest moments involved talking about his family, friends and his ministry family but his proudest moments were when he talked about his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Bob was very proud to be involved with the Scouting origination for over fifty years where he got to pass on his love of what this organization stood for and help shape the lives of these young
boys. He also donated blood faithfully and enjoyed his involvement in the Rotary. He also was a councillor for Calmar for 3 years.
After living in different Provinces and taking on various jobs and positions throughout his life Bob decided to settle down back home in Portage where he owed, and retired from Mr. Fix-it.
“Never Throw Anything Away…It’s a Good Deal…..” Like some of you might know Bob was a bit of a pack rat. Well maybe more than a bit. Never throw it away as you might need it and could never turn down a good deal. If it’s on sale why not buy 2 or 3 of them Just in Case.
Bob will be missed by many but mostly by his best friend Robert McLaughlin & Cousins Grant & Lynda Olynik, Lillian & Vern Groskopf and many cousins all over Canada that he regularly kept in
touch with.
As per Bob wishes cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in the family plot.
