1941-2024
The death of Robert “Bob” Allan White, of
Florenceville-Bristol, NB occurred on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the
Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, NB. Born in Bath, on
December 3, 1941, Bob was the son of the late Leslie and Claudia
(Giberson) White. He was also predeceased by one brother, Donald White
(Margaret).
After graduating from Florenceville Regional High School, Bob pursued
his passion for education at Teachers College in Fredericton. His
teaching career spanned 29 fulfilling years, during which he touched
countless lives at Bath Regional High School, Bristol Elementary
School, Florenceville Intermediate School, and Florenceville
Elementary School. Bob’s love for teaching was evident to all
who knew him, and his dedication to coaching basketball inspired many
young athletes.
Bob was not just an educator; he was also a devoted sports fan and
athlete. He proudly supported the New York Yankees and enjoyed his
time playing on the Bristol Men’s Softball Team, where his
enthusiasm and camaraderie shone brightly.
Bob’s love for his community extended beyond the classroom and
sports field. In 1972, he ran for the Liberal Party, showcasing his
passion for politics. His commitment to Bristol was further
demonstrated when he served as mayor for a few years, leading with
integrity and a deep sense of responsibility.
Bob’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and community spirit will
be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Elaine; one son, Michael White (Gaynell);
3 Grandchildren, Carlie, Madison, and Nicholas; as well as nieces,
nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207
Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol, NB on Thursday, August 8, 2024,
from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Graveside service for family and friends will
be held on Friday, August 9th, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Bristol
Community Cemetery. Rev. Susan Estabrooks will officiate.
For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Retired Teachers
Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated.
