It is with a broken heart that we sadly announce the passing of Robert Lewis Grant on Sunday, January 21, at the Upper River Valley Hospital at the age of 59.
Robbie was born March 31, 1964, to Beatrice (Watson) and the late Robert Lee Grant. Besides his father and grandparents, he was predeceased by his brother Dwayne, sister-in-law Susan, and nephew Jason.
He is survived by his mother Beatrice, sisters Marilyn Smith (Calvin), Jennifer Goodwin (Chris) and brothers Mark, and Jerry (Pam). His nieces Megan (Maurico), Emily (Joey), Julia, and Kayla. His Nephews Eric (Kim) and Jack. Great niece Chloe, great nephews Cayden and Gray, along with baby Navarro due in May. His many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and particularly a very close relationship with his most caring and outstanding younger cousin Brady Crawford. They had been there for each other for several years and if they were not working on something or taking a drive, they were talking on the phone. They each knew they were only a phone call away if needed!
The Canadian Pacific Railway and the Carleton Civic Centre are only a couple of the many jobs Rob was employed with over his years. He was an active member of Woodstock’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch 11. Robbie always loved to be on the go! He was a very caring, honest, outgoing, personable, humorous individual. His gift of gab made lasting impressions on many and gave him the ability to meet new friends wherever he went. Besides his family, Robbie had a passion for horse racing and spent many happy years with his brother Mark, caring for, training, planning, travelling, and talking about the big race. Robbie was also a huge music lover! Robbie would rather listen to music than watch TV. Wherever there was music or a dance, Robbie would be there. I don’t think he ever missed a dance that The Nighthawks played. Hence, his phrase we will always remember “Hello, do you hear me now!”
The family wants to extend their most sincere gratitude to his doctors, staff at the URVH in both the oncology and 2 East for their care and kindness during this difficult time.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25 at the Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow directly after at 2:30 in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
