We are devastated to announce the passing of Riley Anne Simmons Connor on August 9, 2023 , surrounded by her family and friends, after unexpected heart surgery complications.
Riley was born in Toronto on March 21, 1995 to proud parents Joan Connor (nee Maguire) and the late Peter Connor. She was the younger sister to Lindsay McLachlan (Greg) and Kate Connor (David Nowicki). She was a beloved niece to Linda Adams (Paul), Nancy Maguire, and Andrew Connor (Sue), and affectionately known as “Fun Aunt Riley” to Pete and Molly. She will be dearly missed by her entire family, and extensive network of friends and colleagues.
After attending high school at Ursula Franklin Academy, Riley went on to graduate from the University of Western Ontario with a B.A. in Political Science and American Studies. She was also an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Riley continued her fondness for learning, graduating with a diploma in Public Relations from Humber College, and continued to take courses at the University of Toronto. She will be remembered for her determination, bright character, and can-do attitude. Riley made many friendships during her studies that she continued to treasure over the years.
She had an accomplished career in marketing and communications, most recently at YETI Canada. Riley loved putting their products to good use, whether it be hanging out on the dock at the cottage, packing picnics for the beach, or taking trips with her friends and family.
Riley had an incredible, friendly personality and many diverse hobbies. She was an avid traveller, concert goer, reader, baker, stained-glass maker, and so much more. She was known for her immaculate attention to detail, creativity, kindness, and her incredible organization skills. Her real passion, though, was spending time with her friends and family. She was a loving, caring, and loyal daughter, sister, friend, niece, aunt and coworker, who leaves a large void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 26 at the G.H. Hogle Funeral Home from 1p.m. to 4 p.m., with some words from family and friends at 3p.m.. Please dress in bright attire and wear your favourite shoes in honour of Riley. Those who knew Riley knew she believed women should have autonomy over their own bodies. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Planned Parenthood Toronto.
