It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the tragic death of our son and brother Riley Cotter. Parents Brent & Ellen and sister Tori are devastated by the loss of our Riley, who died at the Rideau River on December 27, 2023 at the age of 17. Riley will be greatly missed by his family, grandparents Bev & Gerry Cotter, the late Ron & Mary Rivers, Aunt Ruth & Uncle John, Aunt Jennifer & Uncle Greg, Aunt Stephanie and his many cousins. Riley made many friends at the sports he loved and at John McCrae High School. His sense of humour is well known to all that were lucky enough to spend time with him. Riley loved nothing better than a day on the hill at Calabogie with his ski racing teammates, or in the warmer months at the Limerick Forest on his dirt bike. Riley has been part of the Calabogie Ski Racing Club since he was young and also loved playing baseball with East Nepean Little League. Riley loved working with his hands and his time at his school co-op for auto mechanics and working with his cousins in the summer doing landscaping. Riley’s life touched many and will be sadly missed by all. We love you little buddy. Visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 11 am – 12 pm. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Riley may be made to the CHEO Foundation or to the Ottawa Humane Society.
