Richard Brinston Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family of the late Richard Solomon Brinston announce his peaceful passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre on Sunday, December 17th, 2023 with his loving family by his side at the age of 98 years.
Richard was predeceased by: wife of 60 years Muriel; son Gerald; and parents Walter and Suzanna Brinston; brothers: Freeman, Gordon, George, Kenneth and John; and sisters: Beatrice, Jeanette, Mary, and Elsie.
He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories: son Harvey (Ann); daughters: Edie (Dominic) and Kathy (Yve); and daughter-in-law Madonna. Richard will remain in the hearts of his eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Richard was a loyal member of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment 59th Heavy Artillery- Soldier of the British Commonwealth. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 35 in Stephenville and a Knight of Third Degree of the Orange Lodge.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm from Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 21st at 2 pm from St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Hillview Avenue. Interment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway. Donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Food Bank or the Royal Canadian Legion.
