Richard Edward Sled
At the age of 82, Richard “Rick” Edward Sled entered peacefully into eternal rest on November 16, 2024. He was a devoted family man who cherished every moment with his loved ones.
Rick had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and boating. An exceptional athlete, he excelled in basketball, football, baseball, and his all-time favorite, hockey. In recent years, Rick became an unwavering supporter and proud advocate for his grandchildren, attending their hockey games and other athletic events far and wide. He was always ready with a treat and a drink in hand for them after the game.
Rick will be remembered as a generous, kind, and empathetic soul who was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Verna Sled. Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Nancy Sled (née McEwen); his two children, Jennifer (Scott) and Steven (Crystal); and his treasured grandchildren, Clark, Mackenzie, Wesley, Drake, and Macy. He will also be deeply missed by his brothers, Terry and Tom.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the friends and relatives who have offered their support and condolences during this time. A special thank you to the Brockville General Hospital Palliative Care Team for their exceptional compassion and care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In Rick’s memory, donations may be made to the Brockville General Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
