Richard Earl Arthur Moore, of RR#2 Walkerton, passed away peacefully with dignity at Hanover and District Hospital surrounded by his family on Friday, November 24, 2023. He was 72.
Born in Hanover on July 25, 1951 to the late Arthur and Adele (nee Pegelo). Richard was the founder of R. Moore Construction and enjoyed his time playing with heavy equipment.
Loved husband of Marion (nee Heaney) Moore of 53 years. Father of Tammy (Chris) Hollands and Kevin (Shannon) Moore and Grandfather of Cole (Brooke) Hollands, Cody Hollands, Spencer White, and Meri Moore. Fondly remembered by his siblings, Phyllis (Joe) Lane of Elmwood, Debbie (Maurice) Hopkins of Hanover, Donna (Alvin) Moffat of Teeswater.
Predeceased by his parents, brothers Clayton and David Moore, sister Dolly Beaulieu, his mother and father-in-law Anna and Leo Heaney, his brother-in-law Jimmy Heaney and nephew Mike Beaulieu.
Born in Hanover and raised on the Saugeen River, Richard started working with his dad at a young age, and that is where his love for heavy equipment was born. He was proud of his involvement with the Hanover trail system and many other rehabilitation projects. His family will never forget the many years he spent clearing snow from local parking lots as well as over 25 years doing contract work with the Town of Hanover.
Richard fell in love with his wife Marion at a young age, knowing right away that she was the one for him. Together they welcomed their daughter Tammy, followed by their son Kevin a few years later. He was extremely proud of both of his kids and never went a day without calling them on the phone to chat. Richard had a love for all things racing related. Whether it was a NASCAR race on a Sunday afternoon or the local track on a Saturday night, he loved it all. He was also known for his sweet tooth, his love for music and dancing and all of the cats and dogs who were lucky enough to find their way into his home and life. He loved going for rides on the gator, first with his dog Trixie and then Lucy. In the summer you would often find him enjoying a beer on the front deck of his little cabin, after working hard on the riverside property he took so much pride caring for. Nothing filled him with more joy though, than visits with his grandchildren. Teaching them, inspiring them with his wisdom and watching them all grow, learn, fall in love and live life. He was proud of each and every one of them, and they will miss him greatly.
“Forever in our Hearts”
