Suddenly, at home and surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, October 25, 2024 Richard Insley passed away at the age of 73. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Betty Insley. Loving husband of 39 years to Kate. Cherished father of Beth (Johnathan), and Allison (Devon). Beloved Poppy to Olivia, Kennedy, Jackson, and Emilia. Loved and survived by his sister Cindy Insley (Dave).
Rick graduated with an MBA from Queens University and always possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit creating his own company, Insley and Associates. Over many years, Insley and Associates, guided by Rick’s innate business acumen, provided counsel to a number of varied companies where Rick forged successful business connections of which many became long standing friendships.
In his leisure time, Rick was happiest surrounded by family and close friends. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, hockey and especially golf. Rick’s annual Masters Golf Tournament watching evolved over several years to become a significant family event, full of laughter and friendly competition. Hats off to our 2024 Masters watch winner and Green Vest Recipient – Mr. Rick Insley.
Kate and Rick loved to travel, and in particular, always looked forward to their annual trip to Nova Scotia to visit family. Rick’s quick wit and intelligence made him a favourite of many, but none more so than his cherished wife Kate.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 1 from 11am to 1pm at James Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre (1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston). Words of Comfort will take place at 11:30am. Donations may be made to UHKF Kingston General Hospital in Richard’s name if desired or flowers sent to the funeral home.
