Adams, Richard Harold (1943-2023)
In loving memory of Richard (Rick) Harold Adams who passed away peacefully in Sudbury, on Saturday April 1st 2023, at the age of 79 years.
Rick was born on April 6th 1943, to Wilfred and Lillian (née Wiltshire) in Sudbury, Ontario. After Rick graduated high school, he went on to study Mining Technologies at Haileybury School of Mines, followed by Mining Engineering at South Dakota School of Mines, where many lifelong friendships were forged.
After graduating with a degree in Mining Engineering, Rick spent several decades working as a Mining Engineer at various locations across Canada.
In 1966, Rick met Margaret (Maggie) Parsons at Wabash, Labrador. Rick and Maggie were married in 1967 and went on to have two daughters, Jane, and Kate.
In recent years, Rick retired and spent his time playing bridge, keeping close tabs on the news and stock market, and caring for Maggie, often enjoying lunch with her at Eddie’s Restaurant or visiting with their kind neighbours at Starbury Tower.
Rick was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Lillian, and his siblings Jim (Helen predeceased), Billy, Ken, Jack (Edna predeceased), Pat (Cam), Margaret, Betty (Eugene predeceased). He is survived by his sister Eileen (Bud predeceased). Rick is also survived by Maggie, his wife of over 55 years, daughters Jane and Kate (Ryan), grandchildren Sebastien, Jean-Claude and Isabelle and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation services provided by Simple wishes of the North, Sudbury.
