Rev. Bruce Howard Rideout Obituary
Passed away peacefully following a lengthy battle with cancer, Rev. Bruce Rideout, at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL, on Monday, February 12th, 2024 at the age of 62 years. Born on Bell Island in 1961, Bruce was raised in St. John’s and spent most of his adult life in paid accountable ministry, first through The Salvation Army, then in The United Church of Canada.
He will be forever remembered and loved by: his loving wife Sheila (nee Cross); children: Crystal (Tony Burt), Amanda, and Pamela; grandchildren: Damien, Gabriel and Shannon; siblings: Beverly and Brian; aunts and uncles: Wavey Jewer, Carolyn (Martin) Dalley, Ethel (Mac) Diamond, and Harold (Lily) Rideout; as well as a large circle of nieces, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Bruce was pre-deceased by: his parents Malcolm and Gloria (nee Elliott) Rideout; and brothers: Bob and Blair.
Following his wishes cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville. A funeral service will take place on Sunday, February 18th at 2:00 PM from the First United Church, St. Clare Avenue, Stephenville. Interment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery.
