It is with sadness that we announce the
passing of Regent «Reg»
Couture, 76 years, of Springhill on Tuesday, August 20,
2024 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, he was a son
of the late Bernard and Yvonette (Charboneau) Couture.
Reg, a sailor for the Navy, started his
career in Cornwallis. He travelled all around the world and was
sometimes gone for months at a time. When he was stationed in Halifax,
NS, he met the love of his life, Linda and was married on August 15,
1970. He fell in love with the Maritimes and upon his retirement in
1995 they settled in Springhill, NS. He worked as a
nighttime security guard for IMP in Amherst, NS. He was a member of
the Legion and part of the dart league. His hobbies included hunting
at West Lake, fishing, four wheeling, and snow mobiling. He loved
music especially Elvis and he loved to dance with his wife. He loved
hockey and the Montreal Canadiens. Diligent River has been an
important part of Reg’s life where he enjoyed the campfire, clam
digging, mussel picking, dulsing and open mic. He was a genuine,
humorous, loyal and honest soul who was loved by all, and will be
missed by many.
Reg will be dearly missed by daughters,
Michelle Couture, her son Nicholas Kary and Chantal Couture (Pat
Carr), her sons Lukas and Brayden; sister Manon St. Denis, St. Jean,
Quebec and brother Claude Couture, Montreal, PQ.
In addition to his parents, he was
predeceased by his wife the former Linda Crawford and his sister
Micheline Bilodeau.
Arrangements are under the care and
direction of the A. H. Brown Funeral
Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597
2361). A time of
fellowship and visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday,
August 23, 2024 from 2 until 4 PM, with special words being shared at
3:30 PM, all are welcome to attend. A
Graveside Service will be held at the North Street Roman Catholic
Cemetery at a later date.
Those wishing to make a donation in
Reg’s name may do so to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation.
