Herbert Raymond (Ray) Harris (1939-2023)
Ray Harris passed away in Barrie with family and friends by his side on December 8, 2023. Ray was the beloved father of Steve (Paddy), Rick (Brenda), Greg (Carol) and Jeff (Laurie); proud Grandpa of 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren and devoted brother to his sister Marlene and his late sister Shirley.
Ray grew up in Willowdale, married his Earl Haig High School sweetheart and together established their family home in Richmond Hill with all the adventures that came with raising 4 boys, establishing the Harris family plumbing business and hosting many family parties over the years. In later years, Ray enjoyed spending time touring with Mary on their many adventures together and spending time with his family. Mary and Ray eventually relocated to Gravenhurst in Muskoka where the family gatherings continued, and they enjoyed exploring the area. Ray is predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Mary Margaret Harris (nee Dowson).
Ray will be sorely missed, especially his wry sense of humour and his many «Ray-isms» that we learned and repeated over the years.
Family and friends may call on Monday December 11, from 6-8 pm at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill. A funeral service will celebrate Ray’s life on Tuesday December 12th at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Interment Elgin Mills Cemetery.
