MELANSON, Raymond Joseph–
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ray on December 30th, 2023 at St. Catharines General Hospital, at the age of 94.
Beloved husband of the late Mavis (d.2015) for 50 years,
Devoted father of Laura Lee and Susan.
Adored grandfather of Melanie, Aubrey, Renee, Mallory, Crystal, and Bobby.
Loving great-grandfather of Jacob, Desmond, Rowan, Lily, Ariya, and Avaeda.
Predeceased by siblings.
He was born in Massachusetts, USA, and immigrated at the age of 3 to New Brunswick. Ray came to Niagara Falls as a young man, married the love of his life, and had two daughters. Ray supported his family as a jack of all trades, specializing in metal work as a machinist. As a family man he often included them in most of his hobbies, whether it was fishing, hunting, and working on cars. Later in life he came to know the bible. One of his fondest memories was when he dedicated his life to God, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, sharing in the preaching work with his wife until her death in 2015. He enjoyed spending his retirement surrounded by grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In keeping with Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with a celebration of life to occur at a later date.
