Obituary of Randy Vadney Keizer
KEIZER, Randy Vadney- 84 of Halifax, it is with deepest sadness we mourn the loss of our wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Randy Vadney Keizer on February 25, 2024. Mom was Labradorian by birth and absolutely loved her hometown, North West River. she was the daughter of the late Selby and Pearl (Chaulk) Michelin.
Randy loved her family first and foremost. She was wonderful with all her grandchildren who found Nana so much fun. She was easygoing and welcomed everyone. She loved to read, fish, bowl, and play bingo, and cards. Cooking and baking were her forte and she always had something on the go in case someone came by. Her Christmas baking and turkey dinners were always looked forward to, as well as the many layers of tape she used on the presents. Everyone knew that they were always welcomed and embraced as soon as they came through the door. She always had a way of making everyone feel at home in hers. Her heart knew no obstacles and she was our compass to all things good and kind. She never judged, never held bitterness, she just loved. We all loved our time with Mom and her brothers in North West River Labrador, where they taught many of the children to hunt and fish as true Labradorians and loved her homeland and heritage.
The best time, when visiting Mom and Dad, was playing cards. It was hilarious at times with Mom’s stories and antics. There were times she would fall asleep during a story, then pick up right where she left off 10 minutes later; laughing at the story. She was the mother everyone wanted. Mom’s laugh was so infectious, and she always made us feel life was meant for fun! She had a way of making each of us feel we were the most special person. Mom hated being the center of attention, but she was the center of our world.
With Dad in the military, we were always moving. With 8 children to look after while we moved and made a new home every 3-4 years, Mom made everyone feel comfortable. All 8 children felt special with Mom. Even though the family moved from military base to military base and after that, Mom always made where we lived a special place called “home”, never heard her complain and always saw that she gave all of herself. She was able to listen and understand as well as help in any situation. She made everyone feel strong and wanted. As grandchildren came into Mom and Dad’s life, this is where Mom shined. She absolutely loved every grandchild. When you walked into the house, Mom made everyone feel welcome and comfortable.
On February 25, 2024, we lost the person who created stability in our lives while there was always change. All our hearts feel sorrow. Mom literally brought the best out in us and will truly be missed by all she had contact with. We love you, Mom, aka The Nana. Rest in Peace.
Randy Survived by her husband, Evan “Bob” Keizer, just shy of their 65-wedding anniversary, Randy left a legacy of love and memories that will carry us all through our life. Randy leaves behind eight children who loved her greatly. Terry Keizer (Gilda), Karen (Bob) Beraskin, Daniel (Michelle) Keizer, Wayne (Lisa) Keizer, Paul (Tammy) Keizer, Andrew (Jill) Keizer, Dale (Margherita) Keizer, and Donald (Meredith) Keizer. Randy was the most loving Nana to her grandchildren, Keri-Lynn, Evan (Jill), Lucas, Gabriella, Allissandra, Corrie (Jeremy), Robert (Laura), Ratchel, Devin, Tanner, Annika, Abbigayle, Noah, and Amy. Loved and missed by her great-grandchildren Payton, Damien, Mia, Riley, Dylan, Diezyl, Rayne, and Jazz; siblings, Ella, Jobe (Betty) Michelin, Allister (Olive) Michelin, Paul Michelin, Clara Michelin (Ken Nelson), and Minnie Jamison (Stuart). Randy has many nieces and nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and a large extended family that she was proud to be a part of. She was predeceased by siblings, Greg (Ella) Michelin, Winnie, and Jerry Michelin.
In keeping with Randy’s wishes there is no visitation or funeral service. she will be laid to rest at a later date to be with her parents in Labrador.
She was the best of all of us and will be missed Lovingly and forever remembered, rest peacefully.
