Randall «Randy» Buettner Obituary
Our world is at a loss today with the passing of our partner, dad, papa, brother, son, and friend, Randy Buettner. We will forever miss his smile, his laugh, his one-liners; but most of all we will miss his steady, calming, and loving presence in our lives. Randy and his whole family were devastated when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in July of 2023. Its removal gave everyone hope, only to be dashed by a diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer. Randy refused to give into despair and he had the absolute best last 6 months of his life golfing, cooking, having campfires, celebrating birthdays, visiting people and places, and doing his woodworking which all gave him enormous pleasure. His last days were spent in Biggar Hospital in palliative care where he had time with all of his kids and grandkids, and received visits and videos from his family and close friends. He also received tender, loving care from the amazing staff, who looked after him and the whole family. Randy was born November 24, 1959, in Yorkton to Alvin and Evelyn Buettner, the fourth son in a family of six kids, and grew up in Saskatoon. Growing up in a large family was an entertaining, chaotic, loving adventure which shaped him into the fun-loving, hard-working man he was. Life was forever enriched with the birth of his daughter Amy, whom he lovingly referred to as Junior. Randy’s joy increased when he and Alisa joined families, bringing Jen, Len and Justin, Mike, Kylie, Cruze and Remy, Drew and Jazz into the mix. He loved being Papa Randy to Justin (Junior II), Cruze, and Remy. With those grandchildren, Randy got to be a kid again and was quick to start the shenanigans, but even quicker to pass the blame for the resulting chaos. He was so looking forward to welcoming his newest grandchild and namesake («Randi with an i or a y») with Drew and Jazz’s baby arriving in April. Sadly, Randy passed away peacefully January 23, 2024, surrounded by love. He leaves to mourn his passing his best friend and partner Alisa McGregor; daughter Amy (Nolan), daughter Jen (Len), son Mike (Kylie), son Drew (Jazz); grandchildren Justin, Cruze, and Remy; mother Evelyn; brothers Greg (Uta) and their family, Murray (Lucille) and their family, Neale, Kelly (Lynn); and sister Andrea and her daughter. He was predeceased by his father Alvin. Randy had specific requests for his celebration of life, so as per his wishes there is no formal funeral, rather a celebration with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, Randy would appreciate donations to the Delisle Golf Course for a special project. Donations can be mailed to Delisle Golf Course c/o The Town of Delisle, PO Box 40, Delisle, SK, S0L0P0, with the memo of «In memory of Randy Buettner». Arrangements entrusted to Gerein Funeral Service.
