Phyllis Mabel Wise (nee Harris) passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family, at Clinton Public Hospital, Thursday April 11, 2024.
Loving mother of Marilynne McCausland, Karen & Steve Cook, Dianne, Brian, Debbie, Rick, Mark & Wendy Wise. Loved sister of Janet Harris & Jake Rogerson, sister-in-law of Jan Harris, Kalen Harris, Kay Wise and John Wise.
Loved and will be missed by Grandchildren Mike McCausland & Sandy Jin, Laura & Jake Grant; Tim & Sonya Wubs, Danielle & Tim Vanderlinden; Tanesha Cook & Jamie Hodgins, Nick Cook & Mel Dorscht; Kyle Proctor; Amy & Mike Davies, Arleigh & Richard Bayley; Sean Candler & Carla Tremolada; Hayden Wise & Steffanie Hiscox, Marisa & Logan Kennedy. Great grandchildren Ella, Amelia; Alexa, James; Isaac, Micah, Evie; Harper, Paige; Bentley, Kingston; Kiera, Rowan, Kynlee; Annabelle, Austin; Sawyer.
Phyllis will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Alvin; son-in-law Wayne McCausland; brothers Bruce (Jan) and John (Kalen) Harris; brother and sister-in-laws Harold (Kay), Glen & Nancy, and Gayle (John) Wise; mother Verna (Cox), father Kingsley Harris and step-father Austin Harris.
Phyllis was born and grew up in Goderich Township, the eldest daughter to Kingsley and Verna Harris and her stepfather Austin Harris. After attending Clinton high school, she took a special commercial course at Beal high school in London, Ontario, and then worked for six years at Supertest Petroleum in London.
Phyllis and Alvin were married October 17, 1953 and settled on the Wise home farm on concession #16 Goderich Township, where they raised their family. The daily routine of raising seven children, and caring for the household filled most of her day. After their retirement to Clinton, Phyllis was involved with the UCW, and enjoyed travelling with friends, attending old-time dances, hosting and attending gatherings with family and extended family, and visiting her children and grandchildren and keeping up with all of their activities. Phyllis later moved to Heartland Apartments, and then to Anfield Manor for her remaining years.
After a well lived life, Mom has earned her rest and she will be in our hearts forever.
Our most heartfelt thanks to Holly and the Anfield Manor Staff and the Saint Elizabeth PSW’s for providing a caring home environment and personal support for our mother these last few years. To Dr. Armstrong we express our appreciation for his dedicated medical care. We are deeply grateful to Seaforth emergency department; to Dr. Cundall, Dr. Mammoliti, and the Nursing staff at Clinton Public Hospital, for their excellent and compassionate care during mom‘s last days.
At Phyllis’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be a private memorial service and Internment of ashes will be at Clinton cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Clinton Public Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
