Philip Daniel Caul Obituary
Philip Joseph Daniel Caul – 68, of Stephenville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre surrounded by family. Born on June 7th, 1955, Philip was the son of the late Philip and Rosella (nee Pomeroy) Caul.
From a young age, Philip was known as a charming and charismatic boy with an idle smile. As a teenager, a serious car accident left him with life altering physical challenges. His tenacious attitude and fighting spirit allowed him to overcome many obstacles and surpass expectations. Philip was kind, generous and loving to all he met. He was a proud Newfoundlander and enjoyed watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, talking to his friends and family and telling jokes. Philip always had a smile on his face and dearly loved to laugh, making the best of every situation. He was very proud of his family.
He leaves to mourn with many special memories: his beloved daughter Krista Mleczko-Skerry (Kevin), Sackville; his 4 sisters: Jane Churchill (Don), Stephenville, Maureen (Paul) Abbott, Port au Port, Charlotte (Paul) Benjamin, Sheffield Mills, and Sharon Caul, Sheffield Mills; nieces: Kelly, Janine, Tara, Melissa and Ashley; nephews: Damien, Justin, and TJ.; great nieces: Madison, Alexis, Isabella, Kinsley and Avaleigh; great nephews: Kyle, Casey and Jonathan, who all lovingly referred to him as Uncle Bud; and long time support worker and special friend Bob Simon.
Philip was predeceased by: his brother Michael John Caul; infant sister Loretta; and brother-in-law Lionel Churchill.
Following his wishes cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10th from 7:00-9:00 PM at Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville. A funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, January 11th at 1:30 PM from St. Stephen’s Parish. Family flowers only. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Philip’s memory may be made to St. Stephen’s Parish.
Philip’s family would like to sincerely thank Bob Simon, Joey Young, and the staff of the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre for their kindness, compassion and the wonderful care they showed Philip.
Philip truly was an inspiration to all. He will be dearly missed.
